Looking pale and thin - দেখতে ফ্যাকাসে ও রোগা, with a bushy half-grown beard - সঙ্গে অর্ধেক বেড়ে ওঠা দাড়ি, Subhas was reclining on his pillows- সুভাষ তার বালিশে হেলান দিয়ে বসে ছিলেন, when Sisir,- যখন শিশির, his nephew-তার ভাইপো, entered Subhas's bedroom- সুভাষের শোয়ার ঘরে প্রবেশ করলেন that December afternoon- সেই ডিসেম্বর মাসের বিকেলে.

Subhas had cabled Akbar Shah- আকবর শাহকে সুভাষ কেবল দিয়েছিল to meet him- তার সঙ্গে দেখা করতে at Calcutta- কলকাতায়. Akbar Shah was a co-worker- আকবর শাহ ছিলেন একজন সহকর্মী in the freedom struggle- স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামের against British Raj- ব্রিটিশ রাজত্বের বিরুদ্ধে.
